The US Patent Office launched an online licensing marketplace today, intended to connect patent owners willing to license their patents with potential licensees. Initially focused on COVID-19 related technologies, it appears to be intended to expand its coverage into more technology areas over time. Of course ‘buyers’ and ‘sellers’ must still exercise ordinary caution and due diligence in licensing, and especially with unsolicited contacts. However, it will be interesting to see if this becomes a resource helpful to inventors and companies seeking to commercialize new technology.

A submission form to submit patents to the marketplace is available here: https://developer-hub.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/2020-04/IPMarketplace_SubmissionForm.pdf
Note that submissions are currently only being accepted for “technologies that the owner believes are reasonably related to the prevention, treatment, diagnosis, protection from or alleviation of symptoms of coronaviruses in general, and COVID-19, in particular.”
